Under Real Estate we provide experienced transactional advice on;

i. Conveyance

  • Extensive due diligence and Tax related advice to both buyers and sellers.
  • Post succession conveyance of land more simply referred to as transmission, transfer of gifts and conversion of titles to new land regimes.

ii. Land use

We assist our clients with various processes involving Land use. These include:

Change of user

  • Subdivision of land and amalgamation
  • Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Obtaining various approvals and extension of leases where the land is held on a long-term lease.

2. Project Development

Our Project Development Practice is built on the Firm’s extensive and successful history of managing transactions involving the development and financing of capital-intensive projects on behalf of sponsors, developers, construction companies, equipment suppliers, lenders, and governmental organizations.

We have acted for developers, financiers and individuals involved in real estate construction projects including medium to large-scale mixed-use developments, urban regeneration projects, direct and indirect investment transactions, real estate  financing, equity investment structuring, portfolio deals, dispute resolution and development projects.

Some of our work highlights include representing: –

  • A corporate client in the Tea Sector in acquiring a Go down in Changamwe, Mombasa and to change use of the property to that of a warehouse. The transaction value was KES. 60 Million.
  • A developer who has put up a Mixed Use Development within Nairobi and Machakos County (over 3,000 residential Units). The developments set up is valued at over KES. 3.9 Billion.
  • One of our clients in Runda, Nairobi in the Subdivision of 100 acres into one acre and half acre plots for sale. The sale transactions handled are valued at KES. 150 Billion.
  • A property developer, in setting up a gated community in Ngong, Kajiado County. Our brief entailed advising the client on project structuring and preparation of sale transaction documents for the units put up. The transaction value herein is KES. 1.3 Billion.
  • A Real Estate retail company in the purchase of land by securing on its behalf a credit arrangement for an investment valued at KES. 2.6 Billion.
  • Acting for a property development company in the sale and purchase of apartments worth KES. 140 Billion.
